Additional product stories

These are projects that never found their way to production, but still represent some of Jason's favorite design work for VP.

RQ Flat PEdals

RQ was founded as an outlet for the highest level of VP products.  These represent 2 price points, but both take different approaches of innovating over pre-existing designs.  The Soul Pilot is a large, supportive, and thin platform with enough grip to keep the most aggressive rider planted.  The Puck is designed for Mg injection to make one of the lightest platforms possible.

VM1 pedals

The VM1 family was created to take best features of previous click-pedals and evolve them into the best rider experience possible.  A unique cleat and binding interface let us eliminate accidental release, even at low spring torque settings.

Unused logos

These are logos Jason designed, but never saw public use.

The original VP logo was impossible to read and a 2010 redesign was restricted so much it could not clearly convey a brand message. This design offers a clear form that relates to the legacy logos and is still readable in 1-color use--which is critical for logos that are used in-mold and for LASER artwork.

The RQ logo had to communicate a forward-thinking brand and drive interest on marketing materials. In this case, a dynamic but simple glyph for the "RQ" overlays a bold hexagonal shape which can become its own identifiable branding element throughout the product line.

Ten10's logo was designed to fit the bicycle industry's traditional rectangle form while communicating a modern & trustworthy aesthetic.  The chosen direction blends clear, bold text with a little positive/negative twist.

Ten10 Flat Pedal

Ten10 was conceived as a VP brand for direct-to-customer sales, focusing on the best performance-for-dollar possible.  The P-17 was created to fit that category by blending trusted VP tech in a new extrusion + CNC design that uses simple paths to achieve a fashionable, high-performance product.

Unused Customer pedal family

This project called for three price levels that needed to share a family resemblance but show obvious level jumps in features.  From the OEM-level V1 designed for an automated injection machine to the V3 which uses VP's most advanced spindle system to keep things thin and lightweight, this line provides options for every consumer.
